    CCU partners with the South Carolina Technical College System to enhance the transfer of associate degree (AA and AS) graduates from the 16 technical colleges in South Carolina. CCU also offers a core curriculum waiver to AA or AS degree recipients.

  • Technical/Vocation Credit Accepted:
    Courses which are occupational, vocational, or technical in nature are not typically transferable. Course exceptions may be made only when judged by the Provost or dean of the student’s major to be uniquely relevant to the student's degree program.
  • Credit For Life Experience:
    When a CLEP Subject Examination does not exist, credit for knowledge gained through life experience may be earned by achieving a grade of ‘B’ or better on a departmental examination. Examinations cost $30 per credit hour (non-refundable).

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    A minimum cumulative collegiate grade point average of 2.00 or a C average in at least two full-time semesters (24 semester credits) or its equivalent from a regionally accredited college(s).
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official transcripts from all previously attended post-secondary institution(s) are required for admission consideration. Applicants with fewer than 24 transferable credits must also submit final official transcript(s) from high school.
  • SAT Scores:
    Applicants with fewer than 24 transferable credits are required to submit an SAT or ACT score directly from the testing agency (College Board or ACT) for admission consideration; however, test scores are not required from applicants age 22 or older.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Letters of recommendation are not required for admission consideration but may be provided to supplement the application for admission or for merit award consideration.
  • Essay:
    An essay or personal statement is not required for admission consideration but may be provided to supplement the application for admission or for merit award consideration.
  • Application Fee:
    A non-refundable application fee of $45 is required at the time of submission.
  • Interview:
    An interview is not required for admission consideration.
  • Associates Degree Required:
    An associate degree is not required for admission, but applicants with an Associate of Arts (AA) or an Associate of Science (AS) will have their core curriculum requirements waived. Applied Associate Degree (AAS) do not qualify without a program MOU.
  • Other Requirements:
    To support CCU's goal of maintaining a safe learning community, applicants must fully respond to a series of non-academic admissions review questions. An admission review and decision follows a satisfactory review of this portion of the application.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Credit from regionally accredited colleges may transfer for academic courses completed with grades of C (meaning, C-, C or C+) or above, but the University reserves the right to determine what credit, if any, will be counted toward its degree.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Maximum number of credits that may be transferred from a two-year institution is 76 and from a four-year institution is 90.
